We did the sunset sail on our last evening in Phuket and it was the best decision we made on the whole trip. The coastline up there is completely different from the south. Quiet, no speedboats, and the crew was genuinely relaxed — not doing a performance of hospitality, just actually pleasant people. The food was far better than expected for a three-hour charter.

The day trip was excellent. We are a family of four with children who snorkel regularly, and the reefs we visited were noticeably better than what we'd seen on previous trips to Phuket. Arnon took time with the kids at the second site and showed them some things they hadn't seen before. One small thing: the return was a little faster than expected because the swell picked up. Not a complaint — conditions were handled well.

We booked the three-day expedition with a group of six, and honestly it exceeded what we thought was possible in that amount of time. The anchorage on night two was completely still. We could hear the reef. Captain Wichai found a site on day three that wasn't on any of the itinerary options we'd discussed — just somewhere he'd been to recently and thought we'd appreciate. He was right.

Found Deepwell after getting frustrated with how difficult it was to find a non-group charter in Phuket. From the first email to getting back to the marina, everything was clear and well handled. No surprises with the rate. The yacht was well-maintained — I've been on boats where that's not the case and you notice immediately. Would book again in December.

The sunset sail was a perfect way to spend our first evening in Thailand. We were a little nervous about being on the water — neither of us sail — but the crew made it easy and unintimidating. The sky was extraordinary that evening. I would not have seen it from a hotel terrace. Nong Pim's food was really something.

Second time booking the day trip and the reefs were different enough that it felt like a new experience. The crew remembered that I prefer the north-side approach to the reef from last time, which I appreciated. One thing I'd suggest is a printed summary of the sites visited — I couldn't remember exactly where we were when I got home and wanted to look it up.

CASE STUDY · MULTI-DAY EXPEDITION
A Five-Day Passage to the Surin Islands, December 2024
THE SITUATION
A group of four divers from Germany had five days in Thailand and wanted to reach the Surin Islands, which they'd read about but had been unable to access on previous trips due to the booking complexity of liveaboards.
WHAT WE DID
Captain Wichai planned a route that stopped at Koh Tachai on night two — an anchorage with good conditions that time of year — and reached the outer Surin reefs on day three. Dive arrangements were coordinated with a partner operator based at the main island anchorage.
OUTCOME
The group completed four dives over two days at the Surin reefs, including one site the dive operator confirmed rarely gets day visitors. The return passage on day five was calm. All four guests rebooked for the following December before leaving the marina.

A Private Evening for a 10th Anniversary, January 2025
THE SITUATION
A couple from Bangkok wanted a private evening on the water for a milestone anniversary. They had been to Phuket before but had always taken group tours and wanted something that wouldn't involve other passengers or a set schedule.
WHAT WE DID
Nong Pim prepared a selection of Thai seafood snacks and arranged for a bottle of sparkling wine to be chilled onboard. The captain found a sheltered anchorage just north of the national park boundary and held position there for the final 45 minutes as the sun went down.
OUTCOME
The couple described it as the highlight of their time in Phuket. Small preparations — a calm anchorage, food that was actually good, no other passengers — made the difference. They've since referred three other bookings to us.
CASE STUDY · DAY TRIP
A Family of Five, Varied Snorkeling Experience, March 2025
THE SITUATION
A Swedish family — two adults, three children aged 8–14 — wanted a day on the water that worked for different experience levels. One child had never snorkeled. The oldest had open-water certification.
WHAT WE DID
Arnon ran a 20-minute snorkeling introduction with the youngest at a calm, shallow reef on the first site, then led a longer session at the second site where the older child could explore more independently while Arnon stayed in view.
OUTCOME
All three children were in the water at both sites. The youngest, who had been nervous, asked to go back in after lunch. The family wrote: the crew found a way to make it work for everyone, which we hadn't expected from a charter that wasn't specifically marketed as family-oriented.
